080. The Rebellion

There’s something about a Friday night that inspires the burning of the midnight oil.

I suppose, it’s the rebellion.

The week is already at its end and I do not feel ready. I want to hold on longer and so whatever else I can do. However, there calls a time for pause, reflection, and whatever moment of contemplation you can find.

I suppose it’s the lack of rush.

I don’t even know if I am tired. All I know is that I just am.

I am,

I am here,

Present.

For some reason, this is where I want to be. I know that if I get to bed as soon as, then I will be able to sleep in and still be up quite early. However, on a Friday, for some reason, it just doesn’t seem to matter.

On Friday, you do not have to worry about the traffic. You do not have to worry about setting up the morning routine. Laying out your clothes for the morning, or making sure you are well rested for the drive and have enough energy to go through the day. Instead, tomorrow is a brand new day.

This like no other, is a Saturday. Infamous for sleeping-in. No school, no work, only you, and the destination you decide.

As much as all that may be true, I am tired now. Having had held on as long as I could, I await a night’s rest with no alarm on the other side. That to me is the sweetest part about a Friday night.

How quickly time goes yet again eludes me. Not long ago, I was here, another Friday, looking forward to the new weekend up ahead. Somehow, somewhen, the week ended and another began.

There was once a time that day 80 was such a far away milestone. Today I am here. It is not what I expected.

In a way, writing has gotten easier. A Full Send thought has become easier to identify, hold on to and follow. Finding the end point is always a journey unique to the day. Today, the end point seems hard to reach.

After a yesterday that in the end felt like could had benefited from a little more action at different points, today was almost lived in compensation for that. Trying to make the most out of the little time available between then and weekend. Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in a day, and soon you learn, speed requires knowledge.

I wonder what it was like for my parents’ generation. Did they wonder, did they explore? Did they find themselves enamoured with their work to the point where Friday always came too soon? Did they require retreat from their work.

With the weekend here and that absence of readiness to let go, it seems as though it might be a working weekend. No rush, no worries of traffic, just the liberty to explore thoughts as and when it pleases. It feels a little rebellious, but I see it as time where a certain kind of focus can be allowed. A space to prepare for the steps ahead.

We are all on different timelines, living in different seasons of our lives. Sunday to you may not represent the same things to you as to me. Nor, Saturday, Friday, or Monay. These are all but names we give to the passage of time.

Knowing that there will be two days where The Full Send does not call for my attention gives me a little moment of headspace, a little time for rest. So I look forward to it as the final 10 days of this 90 day challenge comes to end. Wow! How quickly the days go.
I hope you find your way back here next week to see what becomes of the final 10 days of The Full Send 😊😊😊
